On November 13, I will run the Rock 'n Roll Marathon in San Antonio, Texas. Over this VERY hot summer, water has been vital to my training - I obsess over when I'm going to drink it, how I'm going to get more, etc. But I never have to worry whether it will be clean.

1 billion people in the world don't have that luxury. 30,000 people die every week from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions - 90% of those are children under five years old. Many of these diseases are preventable. Clean water alone can reduce water-related deaths by 21%.

Charity:Water has already provided clean drinking water to 2 million people in 19 countries over the past 5 years. 100% of donations to Charity:Water go directly to water projects serving people in need (operating costs are covered by private donors). They are currently raising money for a new drilling rig to serve Ethiopia. The rig, which will cost $1.2 million, can dig 80 wells and help 40,000 people each year.
